After wanting to be an artist since he was a kid, Josh Lancaster eventually submitted to the pressure of destiny (the calling, not the church) and in 2016 moved to Hawkes Bay with brush in hand to have a proper go at it.

 His landscapes often capture the geography of the heart - the places we call ‘ours’ & that define who we are & where we come from. Josh’s artistic endeavours are achieving similar plaudits to his reputation as one of his generation’s top advertising creatives. His debut solo show & subsequent shows have been sell outs!!

Josh’s bold lines & evocative pallet make for distinctive, original artworks that happily hang in homes from New Zealand’s deep south to the shallow north, & even in exotic locations such as Hong Kong, Dubai, London & Waiheke!

Josh’s studio is based in Havelock North near Tainui reserve where he lives with his 3 young sons, Lennox, Archie & Spike. The four of them can often be spotted on Joll Road, having a massive row over who’s the best at Fortnite, or who just cheated playing rock-paper-scissors…. eventually though, the younger three fall asleep & the ensuing silence & stillness allows for a bit of painting to happen.
